Oh, what a lucky man I was ... to be at this show! After losing both of his former ELP band mates in 2016,
Carl Palmer and his ELP Legacy band are out on the road paying tribute to Keith Emerson and Greg Lake with
the "Emerson, Lake and Palmer Lives On!" World Tour.
Selections of their best material along with other songs of significance to the band have been reworked for guitar and bass. If you're like me and wondered how this material would come across without Emerson's dazzling keyboard phrasing or Lake's smooth rock vocals, I'm thrilled to report I nothing short of blown away.
It appeared as though there's nothing guitarist, Paul Bielatowicz can't tackle on the fretboard and the same could be said about Simon Fitzpatrick's ability on the six string bass and Chapman Stick. What a force the two of them are together! What's even more inspiring is watching Palmer not only rise to the occasion, but lead the charge for this power trio he's assembled. It really was a joy to witness his creativity behind his elaborate chrome, double bass drum set and his effort and enthusiasm for the performance was a real achievement.
